Graphology
is the study and interpretation of the symbols in handwriting to
assess the personality and character of the writer. Graphology is
the generic term. The prefix is from the Greek word graphe, which
means writing. The suffix, -ology, comes from both Greek
and Latin and means science or branch of knowledge.
The
basis for handwriting analysis is that we project our personality
into our writing in much the same way as we show our feelings through
expression, gesture or body movement. How the writer forms and
arranges strokes on the page and with what speed and pressure creates
a unique pattern that reveals the nature of the writer. The long
and honorable history of graphology has led to diverse applications
of this detailed social science.
